Wine Tasting @ Cave des Vins de Bourgueil

24th March 2015 by Jon Lethbridge No Comment

Last night we were guests of the Cave des Vins de Bourgueil, as the team introduced us to the wines on offer this year and the programme they have planned for the coming holiday season.

The Caves offer a relaxed tasting experience to guests and have a great range of local red and rosé wines and guest wines from elsewhere in the Loire Valley. Even better, guests staying at either of our gites will qualify for a 5% discount and be able to take advantage of a free guided tour of the winery on Tuesdays and Fridays.

We tried ten of the wines last night and liked them all, our favourites were the Beauregard 2014 (€6,10) and Fontenys 2012 (€7,00) – rich, smooth and fruity. The signature wine, Les Cornélius 2012 (€12,00) aged in oak barrels is great if you like your reds to be a bit ‘bigger’ – which I do!

A popular event throughout the coming summer will be <<Brunchez en Loire>> a chance to taste the wines with regional specialities as you travel along the river on the Martinienne.  Just ask us for details or see the information we will leave in the gites.

Looking forward to summer already!
