Our Loire Valley Location

Our Loire Valley Holiday Cottages are set in the French countryside north of the Loire Valley wine towns of Saumur and Bourgueil.

Our Loire Valley Holiday Cottages are located twenty minutes north of the river Loire and close to the towns of Saumur and Bourgueil.

It’s a beautiful, rural area, only 10 minutes away from large supermarkets, boulangeries, bars, restaurants and markets and if you fancy a quicker pace of life, we are only 50 mins from the cities of Angers, Tours and Le Mans.

Local Ameneties

There are boulangeries and shops within a five minute drive of each gite.  L’Ancienne Cure in Breil has a boulangerie within 300 metres of the property.

There are also plenty of larger supermarkets and restaurants, so you won’t be driving miles and miles to eat out.

Local Restaurants

You don’t need to travel far to find a restaurant – we have great ones tucked away in the most unlikely of places.

Try these out, all within a 15 minute drive:

  • Bar du Musee, Parcay les Pins (5 mins). Nice and easy as it is in the village and the patron always does a good steak frites.
  • Le Bouff’tard, Hommes (15 mins). Our favourite and the sort of place you only discover if you know the area!
  • L’Oree des Bois, La Breille les Pins (15 mins). A gastronomique ‘Logis’ hotel/restaurant with white table-covers and waiters in waistcoats.
  • Le Pelican, Vernantes (10 mins). The restaurant of another small ‘Logis’ hotel with beautiful high quality cuisine and great value, set menus available.

Saumur is our nearest large town and a thriving tourist destination for the Loire river.  It’s famous for wines (including a Champagne like Crémant), the Cadre Noir horse shows, miles and miles of Troglodyte caves ,  a stunning Chateau high above the town and is home to the French Cavalry – so we have one of the largest tank museums in the world.
